Cooking 4 Kids is a cooking and development studio for children aged 3 to 17, founded by Meg White, a passionate chef with over two decades of experience. Meg brings her 22 years of cooking expertise and 27 years in the hospitality industry to create a unique, nurturing space where children can learn, grow, and discover the joy of cooking.
Throughout her career, Meg has worked in cafes, restaurants, events, weddings, and corporate catering, but her true passion emerged through her involvement with children. Inspired by Stephanie Alexander’s Kitchen Garden Program, Meg has volunteered in schools to teach cooking and led children’s cooking parties, witnessing firsthand how cooking can positively impact young lives. She believes that cooking isn’t just about making food; it’s a powerful tool for personal development that helps build confidence, resilience, and creativity in children.
Meg’s vision for Cooking 4 Kids is to inspire children to explore, create, and master their cooking skills, while also understanding the broader value of food. Cooking 4 Kids provides children with a hands-on experience that teaches them where food comes from, its nutritional benefits, and how to prepare healthy meals. Meg emphasizes the use of local seasonal produce, including ingredients harvested from the studio’s own vegetable and herb gardens, helping children appreciate sustainability and the value of fresh, wholesome food.
Cooking offers children far more than just culinary skills. It is a rich educational experience that enhances their reading and math abilities as they follow recipes, measure ingredients, and calculate portions. Cooking also widens their knowledge of different foods, cultures, and flavors, fostering curiosity and open-mindedness. Beyond the kitchen, children learn the basics of food chemistry and nutrition, understanding how different ingredients work together and what benefits they bring to the body.
Cooking 4 Kids aims to provide a safe, fun-filled environment where children feel empowered to experiment, make mistakes, and learn from them. It builds their confidence as they create something from scratch, and instills a sense of ownership and accomplishment when they complete a dish. Through this process, children develop a sense of independence, responsibility, and teamwork, all while having fun. Under Meg’s guidance, Cooking 4 Kids is more than just a cooking class—it’s a journey of self-discovery, growth, and creativity for every child involved.
Meg holds a Working with Children Blue Card & keeps all First Aid Certificates up to date, ensuring the safety of your children at all times.
